How to take use self care daily: I used work like an ant, non-stop, with a tight schedule and plowing through everything. Checking off a list here, meeting a deadline there. It was to the point that I had spent every weekend doing something for someone else, and I would be the last one on the list to take care. Then one point in my life death knocks on your door and for that one second (because that’s all you need), you realize everything almost becomes insignificant. Petty fights, pride, ego, road rage. They all become something trivial.  You visit countries and see the world for what it truly is; you realize that you have it good; food, water, a place to call home.

So then how do we balance the art of self care and life? Simple do these things and you will not only achieve self-care but also happiness.  Here’s the top 10 self-care tips that I practice.

1) Drink water. Better yet drink 8 oz water with lemon and ginger first thing in the morning. It helped clear up my acne and cleanse from the day before.

2) Journal: Need ideas? Do a stream of conscious writing where you write everything on your brain; write short and long term goals; use a narrative and describe yourself like a story. Keep it right next to your bed so you always have something to decompress to before sleep. Research has found that people slept faster when they wrote out their thoughts on paper.

3) Reach out to friends by calling them at least 1-2 per month. This self care blog endorses true, long term happiness when it’s family-friend connected.

4) Do some sort of exercise, sport, or team activity; walk up and down the stairs for 1 minute; it will jump start your metabolism; find something you love because you will more likely turn it into a habit

5) Try any meditation on YouTube right before you go to bed; I felt asleep within the 5 minutes. Here's the one I passed out on lol.

6) Make everything as convenient as possible; pack your

week’s worth of lunches for work,  go through each room of your house and put thing where they should be so you always know that’s their location. If you make this your motto in life, you will ultimately change your habits.

7) Make everything for shopping as inconvenient as possible; impulse shopping for me is hard; sign out of your all your accounts or use your browser in guest mode; the idea of having to input every little box like your credit card, address, makes it that much harder for you to want the object; use a grocery list to reduce overbuying

8)Have a hard time dieting? Eat one time a week of self-care food from the fresh produce section to help reset your body. If you can’t follow the rules of a diet, at least eat something that gives your body nourishment.

9) Plan a vacation and plan the hell out of it. For example, we rented a cabin with 10 friends for the weekend. We went all out. Surveyed our friend using Google survey. Made gift bags, an itinerary for hiking, and a list of foods to cook for friends. We are so amped for it that happiness and working hard for the week makes it worth it.

10) Give a gift to a friend -a card with some heartfelt words are hard to come by nowadays; make someone feel special
