This is the perfect time to fall clean right before the holidays. Especially if you are either going away for the holidays or having a party at your house, you need to get everything in order so that your self care doesn’t breakdown and neither do you.
You’ll need one day or a weekend when there may be a calm before the storm. Before you’re called to a party, or have to run errands, and there actually is a weekend where you don’t have much to do, this IS THE TIME.
If you neglect this pocket of time, you may be regretting it when your in the midst of running everywhere during the holidays, and before you know it, the house has become a hurricane, and you’re stressed out.
So to help you get everything in order before the holiday hits, here are a few tips that can put you on track and make sure self care is at the top of your list.
- Start with your closet: Grab a big trash bag, and donate as many items as possible. This is super effective way of not only reducing the bulk in your closet but a great way to donate all your goods to those who need it, especially during the holidays. Pro tip: when deciding what to toss and what to keep, if you haven’t worn it in over a year, it’s time to say goodbye.
- Clean the bathrooms. Spray the toilet first with a cleaner then organize, put away things on the counter, and throw out the trash. Pro tip: grab a spray bottle and put essential oils and water in it. Spray the sink and toilet so it’s left feeling like a spa.
- Organize and clean that kitchen AND fridge. If you’re having guests come over, you’ll know exactly what spices you have, what produce you have, and can take mental note of what you need for the party. Pro tip: keep a small whiteboard on your fridge and make notes of what you need for your party.
- Clean your living room and your own room. Why? When you come home from work, vacation, or errands, the last thing you want to do is clean after a long day. It also turns out that a clean room makes you less stressed, obtaining inner calm and peace. Pro tip: Play some fresh music to help you get through these last tasks.
